MCKITTRICK’S CANYON, GUADELOUPE MTNS., WEST TEXAS

Day three of our West Texas sojourn saw us at the Guadeloupe Mountains National Park Headquarters. Weather was clear and hot as the extended drought continued. As it turned out the birding was a bit of a bust but the five mile loop in and out of the canyon proved a good tune up for future activities.

Dry river bed. The scenery alone made the trip worthwhile.

More canyon views.

Pratt’s cabin. The Pratt family donated the land to the National Park’s service.
