As I was to learn, the Texas Hill Country is home to many game ranches which specialize in exotic animals.

Trophy Axis Deer. Note antlers in velvet. Shooting deer of this quality runs typically from three to five thousand dollars.

Red Lechwe Antelope. The Lechwe is native to South Africa.

Only Lechwe males have long spiral horns that are lyre-shaped. The Lechwe hind legs are set higher than the rest of their body, which makes them look a little awkward. When the Lechwe runs, his neck is low to the ground. A Trophy Lechwe Antelope weighs approximately 180 – 200 lbs.

Game ranches are surrounded by high wire fences. Here a Scissor-tailed flycatcher sits atop one such fence.
