While not a hummingbird trip per se, my recent visit to the American Southwest did provide several magnificent opportunities to photograph some of the region’s specialities.

Blue-throated Hummingbird, Cave Creek Research Station. At five inches in length, the Blue-throated is a very large hummingbird whose range in the US is limited to the south west corner of Arizona.

Calliope Humming Bird, Cave Creek Research Station. Smallest hummingbird to be found in Canada and the US.
