BARNARDO TRUST HEADQUARTERS, BARKINGSIDE, LONDON<\/p>\n Barkingside, situated on the edge of London’s green belt,\u00a0 is the home of the Barnardo’s headquarters. In 1873, Thomas Barnardo\u00a0 opened the \u2018Girls’ Village Home\u2019 which was a collection of cottages around a green and housed 1500 girls swept up from the mean streets of Stepney, Whitechapel,\u00a0 Mile End and Tower Hamlets. This village has recently received a Grade II listing\u00a0 and its Victorian nature will be preserved during a planned regeneration.<\/p>\n “WE LOVE HIM BECAUSE HE LOVED US<\/strong>”<\/p>\n Statue of Thomas Barnardo.
