John was my &#8220;go to&#8221; guy for research related to Aberdeenshire&#8217;s remotest glen, Glenbuchat.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bilyreid.com\/?attachment_id=3440\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3440\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3440\" alt=\"John Nesbit-1-2\" src=\"http:\/\/bilyreid.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/John-Nesbit-1-2-300x291.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"291\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>WAITING FOR TEA IN THE UPPERTON COTTAGE<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bilyreid.com\/?attachment_id=3404\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3404\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3404 fghogaegqkqswbgculvw amxrrmxwlgmrfxlhmmhq fuumgahysylkmklsukzz\" alt=\"John Nesbit-1\" src=\"http:\/\/bilyreid.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/John-Nesbit-1-300x250.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a>It was through the efforts and contacts of John, that the ancestral farm town of my forbears, Upperton in Glenbuchat,\u00a0 received listing status with Historic Scotland. During the war John received a posting to Malaysia and served in England as an intelligence officer for an RCAF spitfire wing. We shared many interests, not the least of which were hiking in Glenbuchat and a fondness for good scotch.<\/p>\n<p>Mention of his passing is made in the British Educational Research Association journal which can be viewed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bera.ac.uk\/news\/professor-john-nisbet\">here<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>Such was the modesty of the man that I never knew that he was installed in the Order of the British Empire!! Hail and farewell. Many, many thanks for the memories.
