Today is Bob Dylan’s 75th birthday. While never much of a fan (that second coming of Christ thing back in the 60s kind of put me off), I fully understand the appeal of his music.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Red<\/a>CORRECTIONAL FACILTIY, RED WING, MINNESOTA<\/strong><\/p>\n

The correctional facility at Red Wing, Minnesota was Bob’s “College of Knowledge” and overlooks Highway 61. His famous breakout didn’t last very long. He was apprehended by Lake City Sheriff Howard “Toughie” Gludt. Howard was a golf buddy of my father and I had the privilege of playing a few rounds with him.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Howard now lies a good nine iron shot from my father in the Lakewood Cemetery in Lake City.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As a result of his brush with Rock and Roll history, Howard made into the title track of Dylan’s most famous album.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Well Georgia Sam he had a bloody nose<\/strong><\/em>
\n Welfare Department they wouldn\u2019t give him no clothes<\/strong><\/em>
\n He asked poor Howard where can I go<\/strong><\/em>
\n Howard said there\u2019s only one place I know<\/strong><\/em>
\n Sam said tell me quick man I got to run<\/strong><\/em>
\n Ol\u2019 Howard just pointed with his gun<\/strong><\/em>
\n And said that way down on Highway 61″<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
