PIED-BILLED GREBE

I was out in a local park trying out a new teleconverter for my telephoto lens when an immature pied-billed grebe decided to cooperate.

This species is normally shy and unobtrusive. Continually diving around a pool and keeping to itself.  Just as the light was shutting down, he performed his evening ritual of feather cleaning.

Bird’s eye view!
