Woke up Christmas morning and drove 10 miles to watch Bald Eagles catch fish in the open water below Lake Pepin on the Mississippi River at Reads Landing in Minnesota. Reads Landing is an historic steam riverboat fuelling station and lumber town on the Upper Mississippi where the old hotel has been turned into a modern micro-brewery. According to the Christmas bird count, over 140 mature Bald Eagles (mostly from Canada!) work this half mile stretch of open water throughout the winter. Great action, great fun!!…..and the beer wasn’t bad either!!! Thanks for the gifts Santa!!!
