MISSISSIPPI JOG

Prior to Yellowstone, I stopped over on the upper Mississippi for several days. Jogging along the river bank one morning, I suddenly noticed a flock of Snow Buntings. I raced back for the camera and fortunately they were still there and quite approachable. What you see below is a first winter female.

It’s a good thing I did make the effort, for not only did I get the best Snow Bunting shots of my life, I also spotted a pair of Horned Grebes working the shoreline.  You just never know what a jog will turn up!!
