At 330 miles north of the Arctic Circle, Barrow is America’s most northern community with a resident population of 4,700. The locals call it “Top of the World”. The community was officially renamed to Ukpaigvik (Inupiat for “the place to hunt snowy owls”) in 2016.

The American humorist Will Rogers died with his good friend and pilot Wiley Post when their small plane crashed in Barrow in 1935.
